POCSO isn’t just a law …. it’s a shield we owe every child.
Most people know the basics, but very few understand how the system actually works behind the scenes.

Under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, every district must have a Special Court….a court dedicated exclusively to hearing offences against children. These courts are designed to reduce the emotional burden on child victims and ensure that justice is swift, sensitive and structured.

🔹 Child victims can record statements in a safe, non-threatening environment
🔹 Cross-examination must avoid aggressive or intimidating methods
🔹 Cases must be completed with utmost priority to prevent prolonged trauma
🔹 The child’s identity is protected at every stage of the legal process
🔹 Police must record statements at the child’s residence or a child-friendly place

Yet, despite these strong protections, awareness remains worryingly low, especially within schools, hospitals, NGOs, residential societies and small businesses.
